Page 5. 1242 Potomac Ave. Potomac Avenue becomes Potomac Street, in downtown Hagerstown. Potomac Ave. is also known as Maryland Route 60, and is one of the primary roads leading through the northern part of town. Our house is what is called a duplex, or semi-detached home, although the local term is "half-double". Many older homes in Hagerstown are also half-doubles, favored over the "row house" construction found more in Baltimore.
